Course Subsitution Process
Courses you have completed prior to the initiation of the Conflict Management Specialist Certificate (CMSC) or courses you've taken at other institutions or agencies might be able to be subsumed into our program. To determine if those courses are eligible for the Conflict Management Specialist Certificate (CMSC), students must submit necessary paperwork for approval by El Centro College officials of any course not beginning with the prefix DRCM. These courses might have prefixes such as SOCI, HRPO, BMGT, etc. They might also be courses taken at other institutions or agencies that would be equivalent to CMSC courses.
Substituting Academic or College Credit Courses
If you have completed CMSC-equivalent-courses for college or academic credit at El Centro College or Northlake College you will probably be able to substitute them for CMSC (Academic Track) courses. If you have completed courses at another institution of higher education, you MIGHT be able to substitute up to two them for CMSC courses, however the El Centro College Conflict Resolution Studies Coordinator and/or the Executive Dean of Arts and Sciences will have to make a determination if the courses are indeed equivalent to CMSC courses. Please see the explanation of the Course Substitution Process. When you have read that explanation, please see the Course Academic/College Credit Course Substitution Form.
Substituting Continuing Education Courses
If you have completed CMSC-equivalent-courses for Continuing Education CEUs at El Centro College or Northlake College you will probably be able to substitute them for CMSC (Continuing Education Track) courses. If you have completed courses at another agendy or institution of higher education, you MIGHT be able to substitute up to two of them for CMSC courses, however El Centro College officials will have to make a determination if the courses are indeed equivalent to CMSC courses. Necessary documentation is indicated on the Course Substitution Form. Please submit this form and required documentation to the El Centro College Conflict Resolution Studies Coordinator and/or the Executive Dean of Arts and Sciences Division.
