Constitution of the Conflict Resolution Society
El Centro College
Article I: Purpose of organization
Section I: The purpose of the organization is to:
- To support present and former El Centro College students of conflict resolution management in their professional growth as conflict resolution specialists, to promote the understanding and practice of conflict resolution in the community, and to attract students to the field and to the El Centro College Conflict Resolution Studies program.
- The organization will do the above by providing opportunities for members to:
- Hear guest speakers and have other educational experiences that will enhance members' skills and knowledge of the field of conflict resolution.
- Interact with other students of conflict resolution to build relationships and enhance personal and professional growth and opportunities.
- Serve El Centro College and the wider community while practicing and honing professional skills and knowledge.
Article II: Members
- All members holding membership in the Conflict Resolution Society during summer, fall, winter and spring semester and all people here after the qualifications for membership establish by the bylaws of the organization.
The rights of the members are to:
- Attend all meetings of the organization
- Vote on all matters
- Hold office in the organization
- Participate in all activities
- Dedication
- Commitment
- Honesty
Article III: Executive Committee
- The executive committee shall consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary,
Treasurer, and Advisor/Sponsor.
- The executive committee will meet once a month before meetings, or as needed.
- The executive committee shall have the authority to determine the general
policies of the organization.
- A vacancy on the executive committee during the term of office will be filled through appointment by majority vote by
- Executive Committee unless such vote is unavailable. If such vote is unavailable, appointment will be made by faculty sponsor.
Article IV: Bylaws
Section I: Membership
- Membership shall be open to any current or formerly enrolled students in the conflict resolution management courses at El Centro College.
Section II: Rights and Responsibilities of Active Members
- The right to vote and hold elective office or appointive position.
- Members have an obligation to support the organization.
Section III: Executive Committee
- Any member that is currently enrolled in at least one class at El Centro College may be elected to the executive committee.
- The executive committee shall meet once a month.
- Special meeting may be called by the president.
- In case of vacancy in the office of the president, it shall be filled by voting of the organization members. If there are not at least 10 voting members available to vote, then the vacancy shall be filled by the sponsor.
- The duties of the executive committee shall include but not be limited to the determination of policies and procedures of the organization.
